KUNMING -- The border city of Ruili in Southwest China's Yunnan province on Friday put the province's first mobile makeshift hospital into use, admitting five COVID-19 patients, said local authorities.
Covering more than 3,600 square meters, the hospital consists of 170 cabins with 100 beds, including 10 beds for intensive care patients.
Equipped with medical equipment such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) devices and ventilators, the hospital can carry out remote consultations with hospitals in Ruili and Kunming, the provincial capital. It marks a major step in strengthening Yunnan's ability to respond to public health emergencies.
