Fireworks show dazzles Shanghai audiences
The Shanghai Jinshan City Beach International Music Fireworks Show opened on Saturday in the city's Jinshan district, offering a dazzling feast of performances by teams from both home and abroad.
Setting above the sea, the poetic firework performance showcased by Jeeton Fireworks Group from Liuyang, Hunan province, was themed on the ancient Chinese legend of Jingwei Fills the Sea. It was followed by a second flamenco-inspired show presented by a team from Spain.
After a two-month preparation, Jeeton's show enabled visitors to enjoy some of the largest fireworks ever seen in East China, measuring over 300 meters in height and 260 meters in diameter. The company also brought their "rainbow clouds" firework display to Shanghai for the event.
"Rainbow clouds often represent happiness, good luck and aspirations for a better life, which we hope to bring to the audience worldwide with our fireworks," said Kevin Tang, general manager of Jeeton Fireworks Group.
Tang saw the Shanghai Jinshan City Beach as a premier stage for firework art, and expected to showcase more magnificent fireworks after this successful attempt.
Launched in 2013, the Shanghai Jinshan City Beach International Music Fireworks Show marks its 10th edition this year. Landy Sun Lan, deputy general manager at Golden Coast Group, introduced that in addition to firework shows, this year's event also featured with drone shows, beach concerts, family-friendly markets, as well as intangible cultural heritage performances.
"Each year, the show is seeing more innovative and professional firework designs and arrangements. We expect more and more visitors from across the world to visit Jinshan and enjoy our shows," said Sun.
On Monday, a team with vibrant carnival-style display from Brazil and a team with century-old craft from Pingxiang, Jiangxi province are set to take centerstage.
"Fireworks are a carrier of Chinese culture. Its charm can transcend language and cultural boundaries, and reach the audience across the globe," added Tang, who has brought Liuyang's firework arts to dozens of nations worldwide.
