Over the past five years, its urbanization rate has reached 38.3 percent. The built–up area in the central city now reaches 120 square kilometers. Land use has reached 165 km².

Yajiang industrial park, Guanzhuang industrial park and the demonstration area of urban and rural integration (which used to be known as Nanyang New District) have been put into operation. More than 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) investment has been added. About 60 roads have been reconstructed and extended. 46 bridges, such as Guangwu Bridge, and Chongjing Bridge, have been built. Renovation of over 200 streets and lanes has been completed.
