The South China Sea arbitration ruling will not impose "any influence" on China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, Vice-Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui said on Saturday.

Zhang made the remarks as he addressed the lunch meeting of the 5th World Peace Forum in Beijing, which was organized by Tsinghua University and the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.

"China opposes and does not accept any claims and actions based on the ruling, not to mention having talks with any country over the South China Sea issue on the basis of this illegal ruling," Zhang said.

"Anyone, any country or any organization shouldn't expect to, through this ruling, pressure China or shake China's resolve to guard its sovereignty and rights as well as to guard international fairness and justice.

"The arbitration case filed by the Philippines was "a typical case full of political prejudice", Zhang said.

He said the arbitration was "initiated unilaterally out of political purposes", and the ruling was "concocted carefully to achieve political intentions".

"Such act violated the spirit of the rule of law, trampled on international law and norms of international relations, and made a dangerous and bad precedent in the international community," Zhang said.

He also said the ruling damaged the integrity and authority of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and damaged regional peace and stability.
