I live in the US and there is still so much pressure to get married, and if you aren't, well, then there must be something wrong with you. My parents were especially concerned when I decided to pursue my Masters degree instead of finding a boyfriend. My dad even had the gall to ask if I was gay, simply because I chose to be happy and single.
