I am an American young adult, and have seen older people do some despicable things. I've heard friends' parents yell at their kids for not doing the dishes, yet they sit in front of a computer playing games all day. I find it hard to believe that I should respect such people. True respect must be earned. I'm not going to respect someone just because they are older than me.
