A lecture on "The commercialization of research findings and innovative development of industries in the US" was recently held at the Kunming National Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone. The lecture was aimed at promoting innovation of technology incubators in the zone and accelerating the commercialization of research findings.

The lecture was organized by the technology incubators management center. The lecturer was Professor Zhao Yusheng, researcher at the Institute of Physics CAS and physics professor at University of Nevada. Directors of industry and commerce groups, the Communist Youth League, university science park, and technology incubator park in the zone and some college students and teachers attended the lecture.

Economic development relies on technology and innovation, which are both advantages in the US. The lecture introduced the current situation of commercialization of research findings and innovative development in America through cases from Silicon Valley and Xerox Science Park, and analyzed the significance of commercialization and innovation in developing countries from the perspectives of politics, economy and military affairs. Zhao Yusheng said that transforming research findings into productivity and widely applying them in the military field or civilian field would maximize social and economic benefits.

In addition, Zhao gave some advice on how to build a well-run business model and on how to deal with relations between enterprises and the hi-tech zone based on the actual situation of Kunming's hi- tech zone.
