Kunming National Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone signed nine big contracts on June 7 at the second China-South Asia Expo and 22nd Kunming Import and Export Fair. The nine contracts amounted to 23.92 billion yuan ($3.83 billion), taking up 25% of the total domestic signing capacity in Kunming.

The nine contracts cover infrastructure construction, new energy, new materials, and modern service industries as well as biological pharmaceuticals. Three of them deal with infrastructure construction, the "Color Stone City" project by China Nanshan Development Group, the "Langqiao Sunshine Commercial Center" project by Kunming Yihua Real Estate Corporation, and the "Wanyi Square" project by Wanyi Group.

Two other contracts involve the leading industry in the zone – biological pharmaceuticals. One is "Good Manufacturing Practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine Decoction Pieces" system by Yunnan New Century Chinese Medicine Company, and the other "Fast Identification Gene Chip by Mycobacteria" early development research by Yunnan Meili Huatu Technology Corporation.

The remaining projects all have their own special advantages. "Yunnan Beidou Surface Enhanced Network" will construct an enhanced foundation network, a comprehensive vehicle monitoring system, and a public location service application system; "Low-carbon Construction Technology and New Building Material Promotion" will construct workshops making light steel structure, and solar heat collecting equipment; "Kunming Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Project" will build up LNG factories, a regulator station and related facilities. Yunnan Energy Financial Service Corporation will help to improve financial services in the zone.

There are seventeen biological pharmaceutical companies from the zone which joined the Expo. There is even a themed exhibition hall for Kunming national biological pharmaceutical industry, showing the zone’s leading role in this sector.
