A launch ceremony of the official English website of Kunming National Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone (Kunming Hi-Tech) was held by Chinadaily.com.cn and the General Management Department of Kunming Hi-Tech on June 4.

Ren Kan, assistant editor-in-chief of China Daily, Sun Bing, vice-manager of ChinaDaily.com.cn, and Dong Baotong, secretary of Kunming Hi-Tech Party Working Committee and director of the Kunming Hi-tech Administrative Committee, were invited to attend the ceremony. Pei Yanbing, deputy director of Kunming Hi-tech Administrative Committee, inaugurated the event.

Kunming Hi-Tech has carried out a strategy of becoming a world-renowned, first-class science industrial park in recent years, driven by creativity and various unique features. As the industrial park develops economically, its social attention and number of online followers have grown. But a website only in the Chinese language could not meet the publicity demands of the industrial park. To broaden its publicity effects and provide a comprehensive service to its net visitors, Kunming Hi-Tech, in cooperation with the most influential English language website, Chinadaily.com.cn, has set up a brand new official English website.

The Hi-Tech English website is setting its target on those overseas visitors who care about the zone’s development, including foreign investors and foreigners who live within the zone. It aims at creating a professional foreign publicity group for Kunming Hi-Tech, to provide timely services, and a platform for enterprises within the zone to share resources, and to attract overseas investments.

Dong Baotong extended special thanks to China Daily for giving the zone close attention and strong support, and its staff who have been dedicated to the launching of the English website. He also proposed two wishes. One is that Kunming Hi-Tech should strengthen its communication with China Daily, and help it to familiarize itself with the development of the zone, making targeted publicity contents. Another is to unearth highlights in the zone, and to broaden its publicity, leading Kunming Hi-Tech Zone to the international stage.

As Dong Baotong pressed the launch button, yunnan.chinadaily.com.cn／kunmingsciencepark went online officially on June 4.
