The Baicheng Fresh Food Processing Logistics Park was put into operation in the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District) on July 2, marking the largest park of its kind in the northwestern region.
Funded by the Xinjiang Baicheng Investment Group with an investment of 360 million yuan ($53 million), the 40,000 square-meter park is divided into a raw food planting base, urban central kitchen and city distribution base. The park will apply e-commerce to realize the entire supply chain from online orders to home delivery.

The park is capable of processing 300,000 portions of staple food, 300,000 meals and 30 tons of minimally processed vegetables per day. With a delivery capacity of 500 tons of food per day, the park can meet the demands of 600,000 people and is expected to reach an annual turnover of 600 million yuan.
Liu Cheng, CEO of the Xinjiang Baicheng Investment Group, said that the company has customized 100 mobile food trucks, which will serve Urumqi people in September.
The company also plans to put 300 breakfast pavilions into operation across the city by the end of this year, and the number will increase to 500 by 2018.

Zhang Junxiang, director of the Toutunhe District's management committee, said that the park is one of this year's major construction projects in Urumqi, as well as the city's breakfast demonstration project and diet industry pilot.
Zhang also said the project will be part of the city's efforts to perfect urban services and boost the local service industry.
