Maintained stable economic growth
The district government took effective measures to boost the resumption of work, production, and business activities.
A three-year action plan was released to promote the development of new infrastructure, with 2,002 5G base stations built last year and four hydrogen refueling stations put into operation.
New forms and models of consumption were developed, with the growth of both online and offline consumption promoted in order to boost consumption. Shanghai Nanxiang Incity Mega, the largest single-structure shopping mall in Shanghai, opened to the public in August. The total e-commerce sales in Jiading expanded by 16.5 percent year-on-year to 240.38 billion yuan ($36.99 billion) last year.
Accelerated transformation and upgrading of new emerging industries
Jiading made efforts to build a world-class automobile industrial center in 2020. The SAIC Volkswagen MEB electric plant was put into production in October last year and a number of functional platforms, including the China-Germany Promotion and Application Center for ICVs (intelligent connected vehicles), were set up in Jiading. The 2020 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference took place in the district last September and Jiading added 261.4 kilometers of roads for testing ICVs. Statistics show that the district's output value of new energy vehicles and intelligent automobile industry rose 10.9 percent year-on-year to 13.73 billion yuan in 2020.
The Shanghai Smart Sensor Industrial Park, launched in October 2019 in Jiading, has played a leading role in promoting Shanghai's smart sensor and intelligent internet of things industries. Precision medicine and health service industries witnessed stable growth last year. The district's high-performance medical equipment and precision medicine sectors achieved a total output value of 7.16 billion yuan in 2020, growing by 36.5 percent year-on-year.
Improved the quality and effectiveness of development
Jiading rolled out guidelines to accelerate the construction of featured industrial parks. Three industrial parks, including Jiading Hydrogen Energy Park, were listed among the first municipal-level featured industrial parks.
The government continued to streamline administrative review processes for key industrial projects and focused on attracting investment, with 153 new enterprises, each with a total registered capital of more than 100 million yuan, setting up in the district last year.
Jiading also moved to optimize the local industrial structure and weeded out 165 inferior enterprises.
