Tongcheng Rd, in the city of Hefei, Anhui province, which is the home of the Huangmei Opera theater, Anhui Peking Opera theater, as well as many flower shops, will soon be changed into a typical cultural district with an amalgamation of antiques, calligraphy, and painting shops.
Local leaders want to use the existing cultural resources to introduce art projects, while bringing together small antiques fairs, an official in charge explained. One example is at Middle School No.45 where a wall will be used for exhibitions.
And, because Tongcheng Rd seems a bit narrow for thei major undertaking, some local government departments are considering widening it for future development.
