BEIJING - Premier Li Keqiang told visiting US Secretary of State John Kerry on Saturday that any provocation on the Korean Peninsula and the region will serve nobody's interests.

"All sides must bear responsibility for maintaining regional peace and stability and take the consequences," Li told Kerry, who met with President Xi Jinping earlier Saturday.

Sowing discord and making trouble in the peninsula and the region will damage the interests of all parties, which is like shooting oneself in the foot, Li said in a Chinese Foreign Ministry press release.

According to the press release, Kerry said that US-China cooperation is not only beneficial for the two countries, but also cast substantial influence on the world.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to issue a joint statement on climate change, and announced that the two countries will set up a climate change workforce under the framework of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
