China has reiterated its objective, impartial, and consistent position on the Ukraine crisis, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to promoting peace talks and advancing a political settlement.

"China's stance on the issue is clear and consistent. We support all efforts conducive to peace," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday in response to media inquiries, as the Ukraine crisis enters a fifth year.

Mao noted that recent diplomatic engagements have opened a door for dialogue and that all parties have maintained the momentum of talks.

Stressing that "negotiation is the only viable way to resolve the crisis", she expressed hope that all relevant parties would seize the opportunity to work toward a comprehensive, enduring and binding peace agreement.

"China is willing to work with the international community to continue playing a constructive role in promoting the political settlement of the crisis," the spokeswoman said.

Mao said that China has consistently advocated for peace talks and facilitated ceasefire efforts. The country has never fueled the flames or sought to profit from the situation, and does not accept any attempts to shift blame, she added.
