China urges international community to stay alert to Japan's nuclear ambitions

The UN Security Council on Thursday held an open meeting on the issue of non-proliferation/DPRK. Xu Feng, counselor at the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said that under documents carrying international legal force, including the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation, and the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, Japan is required to be completely disarmed and must not maintain any industry that would enable it to rearm, which of course includes not permitting Japan to pursue a nuclear path.
