China will work together with ASEAN countries to combat online gambling and telecom fraud, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday during a meeting with 10 ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries in Beijing.

Consecutive severe cases of online gambling and telecom fraud along the Myanmar-Thailand border have recently posed serious threats to the vital interests of citizens from China and other countries, requiring high attention, Wang said.

He called on relevant countries to shoulder responsibility and adopt strong measures to ensure people's safety and property, and to ensure criminals do not go unpunished.

China is willing to strengthen bilateral and multilateral law enforcement and security cooperation with ASEAN nations to provide a safe environment for people-to-people exchanges and maintain orderly regional cooperation, he said.
