Impressed with China's vast and burgeoning development of new-energy vehicles, journalists from Central and Eastern European Countries on Tuesday expressed hope for their countries to carry out cooperation with China on the sector.

They made the remarks when visiting BYD, the nation's leading electric vehicle manufacture in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

Sasa Barbulovic, an editor-in-chief at Radio Television of Serbia, said he was impressed with the huge scale of operation of the innovative enterprise.

The Shenzhen-based auto company became the world's leading seller of pure electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2023, marking another landmark moment in China's fast-growing NEV sector.

"I am confident that BYD can be a major player on the global scene with their products," he said.

Barbulovic also said he had more confidence in the success of the Chinese economy and looked forward to seeing more NEVs in his country.

"China is investing in automobile production in Hungary, which is a neighboring country to Serbia," he said.

Noting China and Serbia are good friends and partners, he believed more EVs from China would "drive through Serbian roads".

"It is really amazing to see that BYD has such a huge industry of EV," said Tibor Eliot Rostas, who is a Slovak editor and also a member of the delegation.

According to BYD, the company has a global presence of NEVs in 88 countries and regions.

Saying that China has a long history of sharing its successes with others, he expected that Slovakia and China could cooperate on EVs, which he said represented the future of the automobile industry.

Andrei Stoian, a Romanian host and producer, highlighted the significance of NEVs in promoting green and low-carbon development.

Given gasoline-powered vehicles would inevitably bring about air pollution, the NEVs help reduce pollution and energy consumption, which are more environmentally friendly, he said.

The journalists from CEEC, who are visiting China from May 16th, on Tuesday wrapped up a three-day tour in Guangdong province, during which they also visited Guangzhou and Zhuhai. They will now head to east China's Zhejiang province as the next leg of the trip to explore a multifaceted country.
