Signe Brudeset, Norway's ambassador to China, said on Monday that her country welcomes State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang after the Foreign Ministry announced that Qin will pay a visit to Germany, France and Norway from Monday to Friday.

Addressing a celebration of the Norwegian Constitution Day in Beijing, Brudeset said the Norwegian-Chinese bilateral relation is growing in a steady and positive way and high-level exchanges and people-to-people cooperation are resuming after the pandemic.

"In particular, we are looking forward to welcoming State Counselor Qin Gang in Oslo later this week," she said.

According to the ambassador, the Norway-China business relations are growing, academic and student exchange are increasing again and cultural collaborations are multiplying.

"Next year, we will mark 70 years of bilateral relations between Norway and the People's Republic of China. It will be an occasion to take stock – and also to look to the future," she added.

Brudeset also noted that Norway is a strong advocate for international cooperation and the two countries have common interests in this regard.

In order to tackle the great challenges of the time, it is necessary to support a UN-led, rules-based international order, to reach the sustainable development goals and to fight climate change, she said.
