China and France are seeking closer partnership to cope with climate changes by extending their technological exchanges and sharing the experience to cut the carbon emission, according to a summit held in Shanghai Monday.

The second France-Chinese Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Submit was staged to mark the seventh anniversary of the signature of the Paris Agreement, an important international treaty reached among more than 190 parties of the United Nations to address the problem of climate change.

Zheng Huiqiang, president of the Shanghai Service Federation, said the summit provides an opportunity for both China and France to strengthen their exchanges and cooperation in carbon neutrality and share experience to explore new solutions.

The committee of low carbon serving economy, one of the subsidiaries of the federation, has kept practicing the green and low-carbon philosophy and cope with the climate challenges positively, said Zheng.

The committee sponsored the summit together with the China Committee of French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCE) and the Centre des Entreprises Fran?aises/Francophones (CEFF)

Laurent Bili, ambassador of France to China, advised that the cutting-edge technologies and expertise of French companies assist China to fulfill its target to reach carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Their collaboration could play a leading role in the world community to tap the countermeasures for climate change, he noted.

Company executives, government and industrial representatives have carried out discussions centering the topics including the implementation of China's carbon neutrality goal, the practices and technologies for low carbon, zero carbon and even negative carbon as well as the cooperation in this field among the world.

Guillaume Bernard, chairman of the China Committee of CCE, said France and China can expect a closer cooperation in the issues of climate change because France could provide mature technological applications while China has favorable environment and space for research and development.
