Dongguan reports more COVID-19 cases
Dongguan, Guangdong province, has reported eight confirmed locally transmitted COVID-19 cases as of Monday, officials said on Thursday afternoon at a news briefing.
The city reported four additional cases on Thursday, with three people identified as having had close contact with the first two asymptomatic carriers and the other identified during testing of residents in Dalang township.
Dongguan conducted citywide testing and a second round of test for residents on Wednesday in Dalang, where the first two cases were reported on Monday, according to Lai Shaoyu, deputy secretary-general of the Dongguan city government.
As of 2 pm on Thursday, all test samples were negative, Lai said.
Dongguan has introduced strict traffic controls requiring residents and visitors leaving the city to present negative nucleic acid test results obtained within 48 hours.
Eight areas of Dalang township, including residential communities and industrial zones have been changed from the low-risk to medium-risk level, Lai said.
