In a recent interview with CNN, Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen said Taiwan has said again and again it wants to have dialogue with the mainland, which is the best way to avoid misunderstanding, miscalculation and misjudgment in the management of cross-Straits relations.

Ma said the current complicated and intense cross-Straits relations is caused by "Taiwan independence" cliques and the DPP authorities colluding with foreign forces, touting the "two states" theory and making provocations.

This was done deliberately by the DPP authorities, which can be seen clearly by people in both the mainland and Taiwan, he said, adding there is no "misunderstanding, miscalculation and misjudgment".

Adhering to the one-China policy and the 1992 Consensus is a major principle in cross-Straits relations and essential to dialogue with the mainland, maintaining peaceful development and safeguarding the Taiwan people's well-being, Ma said.

On one hand, the DPP authorities have kowtowed to foreign forces and betrayed the Taiwan people and the interests of the Chinese nation. On the other hand, they pretend to be open to dialogue to avoid the blame of "Taiwan independence" provocations, he said. Such a hoax is despicable, he added.
