Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Monday that some foreign countries refuse to use Xinjiang cotton only by citing lies, which will certainly trigger opposition and anger from Chinese people.

Zhao made his remarks at a daily news conference and said it is impossible for enterprises to smear China and damage the country's interests while making money from Chinese consumers.

The Chinese market is always open, he said, adding that Beijing welcomes foreign companies to invest and do business in the country and always provides favorable conditions for them.

Zhao said he hopes relevant enterprises will operate in China according to the law and regulations, and not become tools of certain political forces or challenge the will of the Chinese people.
