The Communist Party of China stands ready to strengthen strategic communication with political parties from Arab countries and deepen bilateral exchanges of governance experience amid regular COVID-19 pandemic control and prevention measures.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark in a congratulatory letter sent to an extraordinary meeting of the China-Arab States Political Parties Dialogue. The three-day meeting, held through video link, opened on Monday evening.

Describing the dialogue as an important platform for communication and cooperation, Xi called on the parties to respect and learn from each other and make relentless efforts in building a China-Arab community with a shared future.

The president said that China and Arab countries have supported each other to overcome difficulties created by the sudden outbreak of the novel coronavirus, which revealed that true friends stick together.

The foundation of the China-Arab strategic partnership has therefore become more solid, the friendship between the two peoples has become stronger and the prospects for future cooperation are brighter, he said.

Xi stressed that the epidemic has once again shown that mankind is a community pulling together for a shared future.

The CPC and the Chinese government have always put people and life first and spared no effort to save lives, thus achieving significantly strategic progress in preventing and controlling the pandemic, he said.

They have also actively participated in and promoted international anti-epidemic cooperation with openness, transparency and responsibility, as well as providing support and assistance within their capability to help global society fight the virus, Xi said.

China is willing to enhance solidarity and cooperation with the international community, including Arab countries, to support the World Health Organization to play a leading role and to jointly push for a community of health for all, he added.

Over 60 leaders from major Arab political parties attended. They thanked China for supporting Arab countries and defending their sovereignty and independence.
