More mainland colleges admitting HK students
The number of higher education institutions on the mainland admitting Hong Kong students in 2020 will increase by 11 to 122, the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region said on Wednesday. The bureau welcomed the announcement by the central government's Ministry of Education regarding the detailed arrangements of the Scheme for Admission of Hong Kong Students to Mainland Higher Education Institutions for 2020. Under the plan, 122 higher education institutions on the mainland will accept applications from candidates sitting for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination in 2020.

Research vessel heads for east Indian Ocean
Chinese oceanographic research ship Xiangyanghong 06 has set sail from the city of Zhoushan in Zhejiang province to start a research expedition in the east Indian Ocean, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources. The three-month voyage will focus on the changes in the ocean's marine ecosystem and its response to monsoons, climate and human activities. The expedition embraces international cooperation, inviting researchers from Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries to participate in scientific research, the ministry said.
