The rhetoric in the US that labels China as a rival and advocates a decoupling of the two countries is dangerous, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Friday.

Wang talked about the future of China-US relations in a meeting with former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in New York, saying China-US relations stand at a juncture once again.

China is dedicated to developing bilateral ties in the spirit of no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, said Wang.

He added that the country is committed to advancing a China-US relationship founded upon coordination, cooperation and stability.

Wang hoped the US could seek harmony without uniformity, meet China halfway when advancing the relationship, and that Kissinger would continuously act as a bridge for deepening China-US exchanges and cooperation.

Kissinger echoed Wang's point by stressing that China and the US cannot decouple, nor could they avoid each other.

"The China-US relationship is crucial to peace and prosperity of the world, and bilateral cooperation could help the international society solve the problems it faces," he said.

Kissinger urged both sides to enhance communication, avoid conflicts, and resolve the dispute with constructive dialogue.

He also vowed to make efforts to facilitate the development of the bilateral relationship.
