BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the summit of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday and Saturday.

The following is what Xi said about G20 at the group's previous summits:

September 2016, Hangzhou, China --

G20 members should strengthen their coordination on macroeconomic policies, jointly promote growth and safeguard financial stability.

G20 members should innovate their growth patterns and explore new growth engines.

G20 members should improve global economic governance and mechanism guarantee as well.

G20 members should build an open world economy and continue to promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment.

November 2015, Antalya, Turkey --

G20 should work to maintain a stable economic growth in the short term, while seeking to inject new impetus into the world economy in the long run.

G20 should strengthen communication and coordination on macro-economic policies; promote reform and innovation to enhance growth potential; build an open world economy to invigorate international trade and investment; implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to inject strong impetus into equitable and inclusive development.

November 2014, Brisbane, Australia --

G20 economies should innovate their economic development patterns. More vitality should be brought into the economy through structural reforms in finance, investment, trade and other fields.

G20 members should build an open global economy. All countries should make concerted efforts to resist trade and investment protectionism and safeguard multilateral trade systems.

G20 members should improve global economic governance to strive for a fair, just, inclusive and orderly international financial system.

G20 members have a minimum duty of keeping their own house in order and also need to build a closer partnership to shore up the world economy.

G20 members should jointly maintain and promote the openness of the world economy and oppose all forms of trade protectionism.
