Police nab hotel cook for Jakarta attacks

JAKARTA: Indonesian police have arrested a hotel cook in Jakarta for his alleged role in the recent Kuningan hotel bombings and possible connection with the country's most wanted terrorist Noordin M Top, local media reported on Friday.

Yayan, 28, worked as a cook at Gran Melia Hotel. He was arrested at home on Wednesday, the Jakarta Post quoted a police officer as saying on Friday.

However, Jakarta police spokesman Comr. Chrysnanda Dwi Laksono did not comment on the arrest by saying "If we shared every detail of the investigation then it could be counterproductive to our efforts."

Several eyewitnesses testified that Yayan were picked up from his house by around 10 armed men.

Two bomb blasts wrecked parts of JW Marriot and Ritz Carlton hotel in Mega Kuningan, a business district in South Jakarta, on July 17, claiming five lives and injuring less than 60 others.
