Nude in the news

Big news this week from the World Economic Forum in Switzerland: Three female protestors were arrested while trying to break into the meeting for CEOs and politicians. The catch? They were naked. The women's organization Femen is becoming popular for opposing political and corporate corruption and poverty by taking off their shirts and demonstrating topless. Maybe they're on to something. The animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has been using naked women in ads for years.

Woman marries a building

A woman in the United States took a different approach to getting what she wants from the government. In order to oppose the demolition of an old factory building, she decided to marry it.

Let’s consult Clark

Marrying a building may not be the worst wedding in history. The Week's Clark Cahill shows us videos of some other candidates for that title.

Devices come to life

It seems people are often married to their iPhone - constantly surfing the web or texting. And now it seems people may be falling more deeply in love. New iPhone software, known as SIRI, which Time magazine called one of the best inventions of 2011, allows people to talk candidly with their iPhone. But what if this software gets out of hand? We learned the consequences in the classic Disney Channel movie Smart House.

This wacky world!

A company in North China claims it can read a child's palm and predict his or her intelligence and potential for success as early as three months old. The worst part? Parents are actually paying good money for this.

Pole dancing has become a popular activity in China. So popular, in fact, that one man left the military to purse his newly found hobby.

A college student in the US got an odd surprise from Amazon.com this week. She ordered a textbook and upon receiving it found a huge bag of cocaine stuffed in the pages.

Cocaine showed up in another unexpected place this week: the United Nations headquarters in New York. Apparently, 16 kilos of cocaine were found in the mail room. That's worth $2 million!
