People across China were celebrating Qixi festival Wednesday. It is also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day.

In Yiyuan city, the place in eastern Shandong Province where the festival is said to have originated, many young people gather in the hope of finding a husband or wife.

Many young couples have left best wishes and pledges on a love wall.

In another Shandong city, Qingdao, the observatory has invited young couples to pay homage in the evening to the Weaver Maid, represented by the star Vega.

And in the capital city of Hebei Province, Shi Jiazhuang, couples everywhere are celebrating.

In Zhejiang Province, the most popular present this year is an eye-catching bouquet. Many customers have ordered one despite the cost.

Traditional Chinese festivals have become popular in recent years reflecting people's interest in their cultural identity.
