A woman experimented with barbecuing some meat in a car trunk when the first orange heat alert of this summer was issued in Jinan city, East China's Shandong province on Thursday, according to icpress.cn.

The highest temperature that day reached 39 degrees Celsius and the food clearly turned ready to be served.

Vehicles towing helicopter on expressway

A BMW and a Chevrolet were seen towing two separate parts of a helicopter in Leiyi city, Hunan province on Thursday, rednet.cn reported.

The helicopter was being transferred for an exhibition and was separated into two parts so it could be transported by the two cars. The police stopped and examined the cars, requiring the car owners to drive off the expressway to avoid an accident. Second son files lawsuit

Xu Huaru, Xu Linlu's second son, has filed a lawsuit regarding a dispute against his mother Wang Lingwen and his other two brothers over Xu Linlu inheritance. The case, which went to trial on Thursday,Beijing Youth Daily reported.

Xu Huayi, one of Xu's sons, was asking for a share of the inheritance, while his mother showed authorities Xu Linlu's handwritten will, saying all his possessions belong to her.

Watchdog warns against buying festival gift

China's top anti-graft watchdog warned government officials on Thursday against spending public funds to buy gifts ahead of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.

The public can submit whistle-blowing posts to expose the buying of gifts such as zongzi, - a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves - with public funds through the website of Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, according to the commission.

Former teacher gets capital punishment

A former primary school teacher who raped and molested students has had his death sentence approved by the Supreme People's Court, Chengdu Commercial Daily reported on Thursday.

The man, surnamed Wei, raped seven and molested four of his 8- to 11-year-old students a number of times from 2008 to 2011. He was sentenced to death in 2013.

Hospital offers discounts to patients

Panyu Maria Hospital is allowing its patients to pay according to how satisfied they are with the treatment they receive. Since the program began on May 1, not one of the 4,400 patients has failed to pay, News Express reported.

About 61 percent of the patients rated their treatments above 90 on a scale of 1 to 100, and 38 percent rated their treatment between 80 and 90. More than 4,000 people tried to challenge a Guinness World Record by making zongzi together within three minutes in a primary school of Luyuan district, Changchun, according a report by City Evening News.
