All the historic buildings from the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945) that are suitable for use should be opened by September, officials from the State Administration of Cultural Heritage said on Friday.

The buildings will also serve as research centers on the war. There are 186 such buildings protected at national level, scattered through 28 provinces and municipalities. Almost 80 percent have been opened to the public.

Next year is the 70th anniversary of the victory of the eight-year war in which the Chinese fought against Japanese invaders. It was an important part of the global war against fascism and the World War II.

The museum on the site of Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. China has plans to apply for similar status for its buildings also, said Lu Qiong, deputy director of the Division of Relics Protection and Archaeology at the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
