Sharpshooter Kerr takes over as Suns(AP)Updated: 2007-06-07 13:35 The Phoenix Suns appointed former NBA sharpshooter Steve Kerr as general
manager and president of basketball operations on Wednesday. D'Antoni inherited general manager responsibility after Bryan Colangelo moved to the Toronto Raptors in February 2006. "I love this team," Kerr told a news conference at U.S. Airways Center. "I love the style of play. I'm not trying to come in here and make sweeping changes because this is one of the best teams in the NBA already. "I like the fact that we have so many assets. We have great players and we have draft picks. We've got a lot of possibilities and we're dealing from a position of strength." The Suns have two first-round picks in the next NBA draft. "As to what those moves will be, we'll see," added Kerr, who has worked as a television analyst for the last four years. "We have several weeks before the draft and I'm going to be here every day working on that." Kerr, who played 26 games for the Suns in his rookie NBA season as a guard, retired in 2003 after a 15-year career that also included spells with Cleveland, Orlando, Chicago, San Antonio and Portland. He won five league championship titles, three with the Bulls and two with the Spurs, and set an NBA record for three-point shooting with 52 percent in the 1994-95 season.
