Malaysian Open: Lin knocked out, four others advance

KUALA LUMPUR - Although China's top male shuttler Lin Dan was toppled by Park Sung Hwan from South Korea in an earlier mishap here on Thursday, other four Chinese badminton players smoothly entered the quarter-finals scheduled for Friday.

Park overcame Lin in their first set 21-14 and led in the second set until 10-5. Lin, the world's top seeding shuttler, once tried to bridge the gap by launching fierce counterattacks and managed to tie with Park 12-all.

However, Park strove to resist Lin's attacks, widen the gap to 19-15 and then finished his battle 21-17.
Lin won Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat here at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium on Wednesday in the first round 21-19 and 23-21.
Bao Chunlai knocked out Malaysian Kuan Beng Hong, Chen Jin beat his Malaysian rival Wong Chong Hann, and Chen Hong upset Soni Dwi Kuncoro from Indonesia.
China's Chen Yu earlier this evening finished his counterattack battle with Malaysia's Yeoh Kay Bin 13-21, 21-15, 21-13.
Malaysia's top male badminton player Lee Chong Wei also ended his encounter with his Polish rival swiftly and entered the quarter-finals.
Park Sung Hwan will face Danish Kenneth Jonassen on Friday.
