Liu Xiang still tops world ranking

Liu Xiang leads in the men's 110-metre hurdles world ranking for
the fourth consecutive week according to stats released by the International
Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) on October 10, sina.com reported

Because there were no important events held last week, the order of the first
fourteen athletes at the top of the list remained the same as the week previous.
Liu will run in the upcoming Asian Games, and is expected to further increase
his score from the present 1,394 points, while Cuba's Dayron Robles, the US's
Terrence Trammell and Allen Johnson and other rivals on the list who could
possibly threaten Liu's position have almost seen their events finished this
year, making it likely for Liu to hold his ranking until the end of this year.
Robles, Trammel and Johnson hold the second to fourth positions respectively.
China's Shi Dongpeng takes 28th place with 1,201 points.
According to a message from the Chinese Athletic Association's official
website on Oct. 10, in order to fully prepare for the Asian Games, Liu will not
attend the 2006 National Track and Field Champions set to begin on Oct. 28.
Liu holds the 110-metre hurdle world record with a time of 12.88 seconds
which was set at a super grand prix meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on July 11,
2006.
