Senegal holds South Korea to 1-1 tie

SEOUL, South Korea - Moussa Ndiaye scored a goal in the 80th minute, helping
Senegal hold South Korea to a 1-1 tie Tuesday in a World Cup warm-up.
Kim Do-heon's goal inside the left post gave South Korea a 1-0 lead in the
74th minute.
Senegal, playing without England-based strikers El Hadji Diouf, Diomansy
Kamara and Henri Kamara, refused to lose. Ndiaye's tying goal went past four
defenders and bounced in off the left upright.
South Korea is heading to its sixth straight World Cup, and made the
semifinals in 2002. Senegal was edged out of recent African qualifiers by Togo
after making it to the quarterfinals in 2002, but made the semifinals in this
year's African Cup of Nations. In their only previous meeting in 2001, Senegal
won 1-0.
Dutch-born coach Dick Advocaat praised his team but admitted South Korea has
shortcomings heading into the World Cup.
"I think it was a fair result," he said. "We still have a few mistakes so
there's a little way to go, a little sharpness still has to come."
South Korea has won eight of 14 games since Advocaat took over last
September. The team won its last match, 1-0 over Angola in March.
Advocaat rested Premier League players Park Ji-sung of Manchester United, who
injured his ankle two weeks ago, and Lee Young-pyo of Tottenham Hotspur. Senegal
gave four players their first international cap.
South Korea plays Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday.
