The expressway that connects Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Longxing New City opened to traffic recently, enabling residents of the new city to travel to the airport in just 10 minutes.
Located in Liangjiang New Area, the new city is based in Longxing ancient town and has transformed from a rural area into a 50-square-kilometer new city after 11 years of construction.
Longxing New City, expected to be a sub-center of Chongqing, is currently focusing on developing the industries of auto making, equipment manufacturing, aerospace and aviation, new materials and electronic information.
The first lighthouse factory owned by SANY – a domestic high-end equipment manufacturing heavyweight – is located in the new city and surrounded by rich vegetation and lake scenery. It recorded 6.81 billion yuan ($1.03billion) in excavator sales after just half a year of operation.
Agreements for a total of 147 investment projects worth over 230 billion yuan were signed in the new city, including three involving car manufacturing, 59 involving auto part supply, 12 major equipment manufacturing projects, and 14 involving aerospace and aviation.
To make the new city a better place to work and live, the government has upgraded 1.6 million sq m of city landscapes and established many forest and riverside parks. Urban infrastructure and facilities are also being improved, with several schools, roads and hospitals opening to the public.
Chonqing is currently accelerating construction on the Longxing football field, which is a sub-site for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
