Huawei Cloud bolsters Chongqing's AI sector

Liangjiang New Area is building national pilot zones for digital economy innovation and new-generation AI development, and is seeking new growth in AI, industrial internet, and automotive software, said Li Jie, deputy director of the new area's administrative committee, at the award ceremony for the Huawei Cloud Artificial Intelligence (AI) Developer Competition on Dec 16.
The Huawei (Chongqing) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center was established back in August 2019 in Liangjiang. Relying on Huawei's 30 years of information and communications technology development experience, the center has provided AI cloud technological consultation services to nearly 1,600 local enterprises in digital economy, and has supported nearly 170 firms to "go cloud". Moreover, the center has contributed to Chongqing's industrial digitalization process in terms of talent nurturing, technological assistance and other aspects.
The competition focused on AI theoretical research and innovative applications, and was considered a significant platform for colleges looking to exchange opinions on AI talent cultivation.
Li Shi, general manager of Chongqing Huawei Technology Co, expressed hope to carry out in-depth cooperation with Chongqing and Liangjiang New Area in cloud services, big data, AI and 5G network.
A total of 308 research teams from more than 100 domestic colleges have signed up for the contest. In addition, three specific AI achievements fulfilled by the center and Liangjiang-based enterprises were showcased at the event.
