In the command center of the Wuxi section of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, the staff on duty work closely with Wuxi expressway traffic police to deal with a rear end collision on Dec 17. Wuxi section of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway is one of the busiest Expressway sections in China. A ramp signal light intelligent control system and a dynamic emergency lane pilot built in the Wuxi section were recently launched. The system can automatically and intelligently carry out data collection, monitor road conditions, issue early flow warnings. It can use the variable information board, monitor signal lights, signs, markings and monitoring of road surface control cameras, millimeter wave radars and other intelligent and refined traffic control facilities. These dynamically sense the main line traffic flows and issue intelligent early warnings, as well as control signal lights, to regulate the traffic flows in ramps.
