China XD's converter transformer passes State test

A converter transformer for a 800kV DC transmission project produced by China XD Group, one of China’s top power equipment manufacturers, recently passed a State test thanks to its excellent quality.
The converter transformer was produced for a power transmission project connecting Hami, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, to Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province. It is the first UHVDC transmission project to send power from Xinjiang. The total length of the power transmission is some 2,210 km.
XD won the bid for the project in October 2012 to produce 14 converter transformers for the transmission project. The converter transformer produced by XD is the largest capacity transformer requiring the highest manufacturing precision and most complex process so far in China.
