Beijing — The pioneer park set up for young entrepreneurs from Taiwan in Chaoyang district welcomed its first group of investors on July 7.

The pioneer park, established in August 2010, is the first of its kind in Beijing to offer support to young Taiwanese entrepreneurs trying to start their own businesses.

Besides offering cheaper operating venues and quicker registration services, the pioneer park also provides loan guarantees to young entrepreneurs.

Another feature of the pioneer park is the support it receives from experienced and successful businessmen from Taiwan. Lin Qingfa and Liu Morong, both of whom are from the Association of Taiwanese Companies in Beijing, will advise young Taiwanese entrepreneurs when they start their own businesses in the capital.

Huang Liang, director of the Taiwan office at the Chaoyang district government, noted that the introduction of entrepreneurship tutors would mainly provide emotional and spiritual support to young investors.

“We noticed that some young businessmen were taken advantage of due to their being unfamiliar with the Chinese mainland,” Huang said. “So we hope the entrepreneurship tutors will support them, mentally as well as in business.”

According to Huang, the pioneer park would also welcome Taiwan students who have obtained degrees in universities on the Chinese mainland.

“The huge market in China is what attracts me most, as the market in Taiwan is close to saturation,” said a 24-year-old businessman surnamed Wu from Taipei.

So far the business base has hosted companies involved in LED development, the cultural industry and electronics.
