He Guoqiang meets Fujian delegation

He Guoqiang, a Politburo Standing Committee member of the CPC Central Committee, met the Fujian delegation at China’s Home of Workers in Beijing March 3, 2011.

After shaking hands with delegates, He delivered a speech. He said although he has not lived in Fujian for 12 years, he still misses the beautiful landscape and friendly local residents, and has paid much attention to the achievements of Fujian province in recent years after a series of reforms. Thus it was a great pleasure for him to meet each delegate. He praised Fujian for accomplishing the goals of the “11th Five-Year Plan” and for their great progress both economically and socially.

He pointed out that Fujian has reached a turning point in terms of its development, and is enjoying many new advantages. For instance, China still supports development in the eastern region; the west coast of the Taiwan strait economic zone has been developed as part of a national strategy; Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone – which had been set up on a test basis for direct exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan – has been launched formally; and the achievements of Fujian province following reform have laid the foundations for further development in the future. What’s more, Fujian people’s determination to build a harmonious society is inspiring. Fujian’s growth is supported by State ministries and central enterprises. He rejoiced at the achievements of Fujian and wished the region even more success during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

During the talk, He briefly introduced the ideas of the Sixth Plenary Session of central commission for discipline inspections of the CPC and the party's working plan this year. He pointed out that under the leadership of the provincial government, the implementation in Fujian province of the Party's work and anti-corruption measures will stand out among other regions in the country.. He hopes that Fujian province can make great efforts to the implement each of the most important rules laid out. He also said that in the meeting the outline of 12th Five-year Plan – the blueprint for the next five years – will be discussed, so he hoped the delegates would collaborate in this meeting and consider various documents seriously.

Sun chunlan, director of the provincial People's Congress Standing Committee and Party secretary of Fujian province, spoke about the economic and social developments that occurred last year and about the blueprint of the 12th Five-Year Plan. Also, Sun thanked the leaders – such as He, who he described as caring and supportive toward Fujian province – for their guidance. Sun said that with the help of He’s speech, sound and fast development in Fujian will continue.
