Dalian will train IBM Rational talents

A local software institute will cooperate with IBM to train more talents for Rational, the two parties announced in a forum during last week’s software fair in Dalian.

According to the plan, Dalian Software Industry Management Institute (SIMI) will start a program for the better promotion of IBM Rational software, a platform for governing software and systems delivery.

Xia Deren, Party Secretary of Dalian and the honorary president of SIMI, said the program, which combines theories and practices, will help train more high-level engineers and senior managers for the city’s software sector.

According to Xia, the lack of senior managers and project managers has become a bottleneck for the development of the software industry in Dalian.

The institute held a forum during the software fair, inviting famous economists like Larry Lang Xianping, professor of Chinese University of Hong Kong, to share their opinions on the development of the industry.

SIMI was initiated in 2008 by Dalian Information Industry Bureau, Dalian Hi-tech Development Zone, and HiSoft Technology International Ltd, one of China’s biggest software outsourcing companies.

It is expected to train 1,000 senior managers and 1,600 first-line managers from 2009 to 2011.
