Tomb creates grave problem

Experts continue to doubt that a tomb unearthed in Anyang county of Henan province last year is that of Cao Cao, a legendary warlord during the Three Kingdoms period (AD 208-280). But despite the doubts, local authorities are going ahead with their plan of promoting the tomb as a tourist attraction, says an article on Xinhuanet. Excerpts:

Though doubts remain over the authenticity of Cao Cao's tomb, the local authorities have decided to issue admission tickets for the site. The sale of tickets, which cost 60 yuan each, could become a good source of income for the local government.

There is nothing wrong in creating new sources of income, but the local authorities should not use lies to make money. The local authorities would be indulging in mass cheating if the tomb is not authentic. Therefore, the local authorities should defer their plan to open the tomb to the public until experts are unanimous over its authenticity.
