IOC Coordination Commitee meet on preparatory work
(BOCOG)

BEIJING -- The working group of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, led by its chairman Hein Verbruggen, held working sessions on August 11-12 with BOCOG on a variety of topics concerning the preparatory work for the Olympics.

The issues included technology, ticketing, marketing, torch relay, transportation, accommodation, human resources, competition organization and media operation. Discussions were also held between the officials of IOC and relevant departments of the Beijing Municipal Government and co-host cities on details of procurement, accreditation, ceremonies, rate card and venue power supply.
The commission and BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad) reached wide-ranging common understanding on the overall situation of the Olympic preparations and implementation of relevant work programs. BOCOG Executive Vice President Liu Jingmin sincerely appreciated Coordination Commission working groups and IOC for their continuing assistance, support and guidance to BOCOG and expressed readiness to continue carrying out its work in detail with an aim to fulfill future undertakings.
Before departing Beijing, Mr. Verbruggen spoke high of the close cooperation between IOC and BOCOG. Confident in the success of the 29th Olympic Games, he said IOC will spare no efforts to help and support BOCOG.
The IOC Coordination Commission is scheduled to hold its 7th plenary session in Beijing in October.
