Worker reports fake crime to get off work

A man in Guiyang, surnamed Gao, was fined 200 yuan ($30) and placed in a detention house for five days for raising a false alarm on July 2. Police attended the scene after Ma reported that he had been stabbed and robbed of all his belongings by three men in an alley in the city's Nanming district. Ma was detained after surveillance video footage indicated he had lied. He admitted raising a false alarm, saying that his motive was to get time off work. Resident faces fine for naming street

A man faces being fined for illegally naming a street after himself in the capital's Chao-yang district. Ge Yulu, a native of Wuhan, Hubei province, discovered an unnamed street in Shuangjing neighborhood in 2013. He put up a sign reading Geyulu, or Geyu Road. The online map Amap starting using Geyu Road in 2014 and included it on its navigation system. It was quickly followed by Baidu Maps in 2015 and Google Maps in 2016. According to the law, no individual is allowed to name a street or road without approval from the authorities.

Smuggler caught with 102 iPhones

A Hong Kong woman who taped 102 iPhones to her body was detained by customs inspection officials at a checkpoint in Shenzhen's Luohu district this month. Further investigation found the woman also had 15 Tissot watches taped across her chest.
