Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region will run block trains to Duisburger Hafen, an inland port in Germany in the first half of 2016, according to an agreement signed between Urumqi's Economic and Technological Development Zone and Duisburger Hafen, on March 17.
The train will operate once a week. What's more, the two sides will also jointly manage the Xinjiang International Land Port Holding Co, which has registered capital worth 200 million yuan ($30.94 million).

The cooperation between the two sides is aimed at making Duisburger Hafen and Xinjiang International Land Port the distribution centers for container services along the Asia-Europe railway, said Chen Gang, the head of the development zone, at the signing ceremony.
Duisburger Hafen is a large German distribution hub for metal, mineral and coal resources and also a freight transport junction in Europe.
Chairman of the Duisburger Hafen Co responded that Duisburger Hafen, situated in the Ruhr, an important European industrial center, is a significant traffic hub in Europe. And by collaborating with its counterpart in Urumqi, Duisburger Hafen expects to use both sides’ advantages to share in a win-win situation with the Chinese economy.
