To provide better working environment for workers, construction sites in Economic and Technological Development Zone, at Urumqi city in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region take necessary measures to deal with summer high temperature.
"Trying to prevent workers from working under high temperature, our company has adjusted the timetable since the dog days," said He Zhichao, the deputy project manager of China State Construction Engineering Corporation.
The engineering corporation has also given out fruits and medicine to preven workers from sunstroke , distributed heatstroke prevention subsidy and provides common room where employees can enjoy the cooling beverage.
Liu Yanqiu, a construction worker who just received the medicine said that the company hands out the heatstroke prevention things every summer, which made him "feel more comfortable" during the work.
According to official statistics, more than 8,000 building workers work at construction sites of new high speed railway station and squares in the district.
Zhan Jian, vice manager of Urumqi High-Speed Railway Hub Comprehensive Development & Construction Investment Co, said that high temperature can cause many accidents in construction sites, therefore his company has enhanced the supervision and regulation and will punish the irregularities.
