Tourism industry sees exchanges in Urumqi The 2017 Xinjiang Tourism Exchange Conference was held at Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Urumqi on March 31, during which leaders discussed the future development of the tourism industry in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Hosted by Xinjiang Tourism Association, the conference gathered tourism bureaus from across the region and 160 tourist enterprises including tourist attractions, travel agents, hotels, and shopping areas.

Ji Xiang, president of the Xinjiang Tourism Association, said this was the first time a tourism conference had been held in the region with the intention to build a platform for tourism attractions and allow companies to exchange ideas and discuss how to boost the local tourism industry.

In the future, the Xinjiang Tourism Association will organize a series of activities, such as a charity salon and training sessions, at Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and encourage the tourism industry to cooperate with the finance industry and internet industry.

During the conference, a contract has been inked between Xinjiang Yinbaolian Financing Service Co Ltd and Urumqi Bank to launch a tourist financing service project. And a strategic cooperation agreement has been signed between Xinjiang Tourism Association and another six companies, including DiDi Taxi Group, China Telecom (Urumqi), and the Bank of Beijing.
