A conference hosted by Qu Zhengang, director of the big data industry promotion bureau of Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone, was held in the zone on March 11, seeking measures to solve agricultural difficulties through big data technologies.

Du Shenghai, deputy director of the big data industry promotion bureau of Urumqi High-tech Industrial Development Zone; along with Zhang Xinli, president of the High-tech Intelligent Big Data Information Technology Co Ltd; and Deng Yan, general manager of the company, took part in the meeting to discuss problems with agricultural production and marketing with more than 20 representatives from a local village.

Major difficulties faced by local villagers include poor access to information which often means farmers do not know the market price of their produce.

“The problem can be solved through an online public service platform which allows villagers up-to-date information about fluctuations in the price of vegetables, which they can access through their cell phones and computers,” said Qu Zhengang.

“I hope big data technology can help farmers in the high-tech industrial zone solve these problems and increase their incomes,” Qu added.
