Karamay, located in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, opened a new museum to display its traditional military culture on Aug 15, local media reported.
The museum has been funded by the Karamay Military and aims to help better educate the local populace on the subject of national defense. The museum will be comprised of an array of both patriotically stirring exhibits and activities certain to bring revolutionary spirit to the forefront of one’s mind.
Located near the barracks of Karamay department of the people’s armed force, the museum covers an area of 400 square meters and is divided into four sections; local traditional culture, the history of the Karamay oilfields, the history of regional military combat, and the history of revolutionary movements in the Karamay Military Sub-area.
Zhang Heshui, the political commissar of the Karamay Military Sub-area, is excited by the prospect of the museum and believes it will play an important role in commemorating history.
“We have been committed to making the museum an educational base for those wishing to learn about revolutionary traditions, patriotism and national defense in Karamay.”
It is hoped the museum will patriotically inspire officials and soldiers to further their efforts of national defense. The museum will also become an important space for locals to both appreciate and promote Chinese traditional culture.
